About Bella

I am a candidate for the MPA program at Jacksonville State University. I have 18 yrs. experience in nursing, EMT-B, and military service. Plus, I have 1 yr. experience in hazmat and volunteer firefighting, which was encouraged by a wise professor. This particular professor had worked in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, in CA. I am grateful for the exposure I gained from working with the fire service and the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS is the corner stone to the National Incident Management System (NIMS) (2006), which was implemented post 9/11. NIMS was created to ensure that future all hazard incidents worked within one command system and used one common language to reduce confusion and duplication of resources during disasters. I have been learning about emergency management for the past five years. I am still learning and this blog is intended to share information and to improve my writing skills on the subject matter.
